WOOD FIELD CHESS CLUB

CHESS CLUB TAKES PLACE IN THE LIBRARY EVERY THURSDAY AND WILL COMMENCE AFTER THE SUMMER BREAK ON THURSDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2024.

Year 3,4 session 1pm

Wherever you are in the world, whatever your age or nationality, playing chess will be your international passport to hours of fun.  Chess is a challenging pastime, which develops logical thinking, concentration, forward planning and self-control. Mastering the game of chess often helps the development of personal confidence which has been shown to enhance achievement in basic school subjects. We operate a simplified “Swiss system” which means; Win = 3 points, draw = 2 points, loss = 1 point. Each player has their own score card and points are recorded weekly after each match. At the end of term there is a prize for the top player with the highest score and a medal for second and third place.

The cost for the term is £55.00. 

To register and pay, please complete the following information.  To obtain a discount for second sibling, just add the discount code SIB when registering.

As we progress through the term, dates for various chess tournaments in your area will be announced. These tournaments are not compulsory but offer players the opportunity to take part in a competitive environment should they wish to do so. Please tick the box on the registration form if It is OK to send you this information.

It is assumed that once players have registered that they will attend chess club every week. Missed sessions will not be refunded however,  in the unlikely event the organiser cancels, a refund for that session(s) will be made back to the original payee.
